01. Becca Hatch - Blessed

Becca Hatch continues to solidify herself as a pop star in the making with ‘Blessed’. This track is a fast-paced banger, which puts the singer’s swagger-rich delivery on full display, as she drops warm raspy melodies that are as beautiful as they are boisterous. Tentendo takes the prime place of producer of this track, enriching the atmosphere with a colourful dance beat that bellows with its kicks, and brings to life an orchestra of neo-soul inspired synth layers. Fully expect to see this one catapult into the clubs this Summer.

02. Mali Jo$e - SUNSEEKER ft. Len

Mali Jo$e’s polymerisation of intricate raps and catchy vocals are on full display with ‘SUNSEEKER’, the opening track to his just-released EP of the same name. Smooth reversed synths command the space of this laid-back track, curating the perfect atmosphere for Mali as he discusses the process of balancing emotional adversity, and the motivation to continue the grind. London artist Len drops in for a verse on the back-end, finding his place in the mellow ambience with sleek, autotuned bars.

03. Mulalo - Houdini

As demonstrated on Mulalo’s 2021 belter ‘M31 (Racing down the Hume)’, the pairing of Mulalo’s brazen delivery of smartass bars and Nerve’s kick-in-the-face production is a deadly combination. Their latest linkup comes in ‘Houdini’, with Mulalo working her magic on a drill-style beat for the first time. The results? Light work for the Naarm rapper. Bars, flow, style, punchlines? Mulalo’s got it all in spades.

04. Genesis Owusu - Get Inspired

‘Get Inspired’ is a straightforward dose of post-punk, enriched by the unique approach of Genesis Owusu. Smashing snares and crunchy guitars loop in the background of the multi-faceted artist’s impassioned yelps and shout-along refrain on the chorus. Without a doubt, this one is bound to incite moshpits across all crowds this Summer.

05. Tshil Brown - Company

Tshil Brown popped onto our radar a big tune called ‘Company’, a track that excels in its afrobeats approach. The Melbourne-based artist’s effortless croons slide over the snappy snares and gyrating swing created by the kicks, resulting in a single destined for late-night dancefloors. If you put this track on your radar, it’s inevitable that it’ll become a playlist staple.

06. Beckah Amani - Smoke & Mirrors

Smoke & Mirrors’ centers around climate disaster, and the anxieties, lack of clear information, and confusion that surrounds it. The concern in her voice resonates, as she delivers these lyrics with an undeniable passion and a soulful tone that even with the impending doom of the subject matter, provides a sense of hope. Matt Corby is behind the boards of this one, soundtracking Amani’s message with laid-back drum patterns and piano chords that enhance the importance of this track. It appears on Beckah Amani’s new project April, which you can stream now.

07. Mike Akox - Je Le Mi Edo

This new Mike Akox song thrives in a vibrance that you cannot deny. His raspy melodies sit atop layered afrobeat production, rich with fluttering keys and reverberating horns, and propelled by rattling percussion and bouncy kick loops. It’s feel-good tune, with a tempo that makes you inclined to go outside.

08. Sevy - Spine

Sydney’s Sevy gifts us with a brand a new EP this week titled SV22-1 — it’s an eclectic selection of tracks that traverse Zambian dancehall, alte, amapiano and more. ‘Spine’ is a fun standout that sees Sevy pull out back to back back-references. (Get it?—‘I got your back like a spine’) It’s a unique flavour within the Aus scene, but that’s why we love it — Sevy is yet to miss!

09. CVIRO & GXNXVS - Nasty ft. Jean Deaux

Nasty’ finds CVIRO & GXNXVS stomping the yard with nostalgia. A beat reminiscent of early 2000s R&B pulsates, with thumping bass and ear-catching synth lines setting a tone perfectly suited for traversing the club. Chicago’s Jean Deaux also features on this one, adding a quick frenzy to this frisky anthem.

010. Tyla Yaweh - Sex Symbol

Tyla Yaweh curates a chaotic energy for the circle pits on ‘Sex Symbol’. It’s clear that he’s feeling himself, as he brings an animated, autotune delivery to forefront, barraging through back-to-back flex frenzies. Inciting the mosh is an eerie, hard-hitting trap beat, that marauds with menacing synths and beckons with blasting 808s. It’s Tyla Yaweh at his best, and a foreshadowing of his limitless potential.
